Limited systems hurt your business

Technology is the excuse of the day. If a company or customer rep can't help you, technology is often to blame (or so they say). For example, have you ever heard any of these lines?

"I'd love to give you a refund, but the system won’t let me."

"I wish I could change your shipping date, but the computer will make me cancel the order and redo the whole thing."

"I'm sorry, but once the reservation is in the calendar, I can’t change it."

These excuses are often legitimate. Many times, the system is so limiting or confusing, the customer service rep is actually telling the truth. They can’t help you because their systems, which are supposed to make life easier, are hindering them.

It's inexcusable really. There is no reason your software should stop you from doing your job. There’s no reason customer service should suffer because your software is limited. Your applications should make it easy for you to see information and make changes.

Here's a great example of an easy application. It's a shipping calendar for a fictional bike company. Feel free to play around with it. You’ll notice a couple things:
  • It's simple. Changing shipping dates is simple. Just drag the order to a different day.
  • Viewing order information is also simple. Hover over the order to see details.
That's just one example, but feel free to check out the entire Crazybikes site for more. You’ll see all sorts of simple applications. Better yet, everything you see is easy to create with m-Power. If you don’t believe me, take m-Power for a free Test Drive and see for yourself.
