7 Steps For Making a New Year’s Resolution and Keeping It

The beginning of a new year is always great. We get to put the old year in the past and start a new one with a clean slate. Then, by the end of January when we’ve broken all of our new year’s resolutions, we get to look forward to the start of the next year…in 11 months.

Do you have trouble keeping your resolutions? Join the crowd. If you’d like to correct the problem, here’s a good article on lifehack.org entitled, “7 steps for making a new years resolution and keeping it”.

While the article has some great tips for your personal life, I believe some of them can be carried over into the business world. For example, many IT leaders need some help with planning ahead. They approach projects and software purchases one at a time, without stopping to map out the big picture.

If they would stop and plan out projects and software purchases for the next few years, they might realize something. Some projects can be combined, and some software can cover multiple projects or tasks. I believe if more leaders took this approach, they would save a lot of money in the long run.
